Choosing a Sediment Filter Micron Rating

Micron rating describes particle size, but nominal and absolute ratings are not identical. Finer filtration can capture smaller material while clogging faster and reducing pressure. Identify particle size and load, then consider staged filtration, housing size, flow, and replacement access. The smallest number is not automatically the best design.
